A Celebration of Mike Collins

October 28, 2022

More than 150 people gathered in late October to celebrate the life and work of Mike Collins. The Texas Historical Foundation hosted the event, where we showed a clip featuring testimonials from colleagues and former students and family film footage that reveals Mike’s early influences from vacations to important sites like Mesa Verde and Boy Scout adventures.

Here are a few photos:

Mike and Karen Collins with a 100-year-old bois d’arc slab preserved by Steve Davis, a longtime Gault volunteer. Steve noted important dates in the history of Gault and Mike’s life on the rings of the tree. The piece will be displayed at The Williamson Museum as part of its ongoing exhibit about the Gault site.
