Meeting with Archaeological Conservancy Board Member Betsy Alexander

Thanks to Elizabeth “Betsy” Alexander for a lovely lunch along the Potomac to learn more about our film about the Gault Archaeological Site. Betsy sits on the board of The Archaeological Conservancy, the non-profit that owns and protects Gault and more than 550 other endangered archaeological sites across the country. www.archaeologicalconservancy.org
Betsy also sits on the board of the Crow Canyon Archaeological Center in Colorado. www.crowcanyon.org
After getting a B.A. degree in sociology from Boston University and a law degree from Georgetown University, Betsy worked as an aide to a member of the Virginia State Senate and was active in local politics. Her involvement with Crow Canyon and its founder, Stuart Struever, sparked her passion for archaeology and pursuit of a Ph.D. at American University. She has worked at Mount Vernon as a member of the archaeology department for about 20 years, and worked in Nabta Playa in Egypt with the late Fred Wendorf sporadically for more than 15 years. She has also participated in archaeological dig programs at Crow Canyon.
